Gotta Start Somewhere

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

So, it’s been a while…Z has grown and changed and become a real little girl with love of frilly things and Princesses and jewelry in addition to song and danse. And she has an adorable little sister baby X 6 months old and ready to take us al on with silent giant smiles and loud complaints for MORE MILK, and TABLE FOOD, and she wants it all, to crawl, squirm, eat,  do everything z does.  She’s amazing in spite of the 9 colds/viruses/childhood illnesses our family has gone through in the 6 months of her life.

The latest Z cold has meant that the three of us girls napped thi afternoon. I gaze on two beauties in the late afternoon sun…ok now baby X is trying to remove the power cord and eat it and Z is demanding youtube (she likes to watch Disney princess song “videos” .

So off I go. Things are good. I’ll try and getpics up etc someday again.

if you’re out there, we’re thinking of you!

PS  Jonah, since you have an RSS maybe you’ll get this: Z knows how to read WALL-E, we got a poster in the mail & she told me YOu taught her how to spell it (Xmas?) thanks!

Popularity may dilute capoeira, or possibly help preserve it. Still working towards becoming an Olympic sport too. Here’s the 411

Niente di nuovo tranne l’affito (wink to Zucchero Blues fans!)

So as you can see by the fact that we have not posted anything for a long time, nothing’s going on with the Aelony-Moriwaki clan, nothing to report.

Heehee, sorry it’s 5am PST. So yes, there will be pictures, postings, etc. but who knows when. We’re back from the big France trip, lots on that, and yes the Segre-Chen extravaganza will have photos to post as well, but in the meantime for anyone reading, just a note that Ginga Arts received it’s first grant from the Amateur Athletic Foundation www.aafla.org and we are thrilled! We must now raise the rest of the funds we need to keep running our nonprofit, so please purchase your tickets to our 1st Annual Fundraising event November 11th 8-midnight through our website. Donation cost is $20 (discounted for advance purchases) and the evening gala will include a silent auction, DJ Sergio Milinschenko, a live performance by Kwanza Jones and a capoeira performance. Kids welcome.

Also, if you have silent auction items to donate or are willing to make a donation which your company might match (including Activision), we’d be ever so grateful, and you can feel great knowing your every penny will be spent judiciously for the benefit of the underserved youth we serve here in LA County!

Shana, Cookies and revisionist history

Friday, July 21st, 2006

I am reading a book about the brain’s development from conception through early childhood. It’s very interesting and in reading some of the stuff on memory I realize again how fuzzy they whole subject can be. The things we remember and the WAY we remember them reflect our interests and our identity really. So I don’t know if this is a Franco-American identity issue for me or what, but I recently realized i have been lying to myself for YEARS about my relationship with chocolate chip cookies. (more…)

Zelda verbal progress linked to mean mommy!

Friday, July 21st, 2006

So earlier this week Zelda pronounced her longest most complete sentence to date (that we heard, understood, and noted at least). As I GENTLY brushed her hair with the old eco-friendly toddler brush, Zelda said to me” Stop, Mommy, I don’t like it that.” (more…)

Monkeyshave Mystery solved!

Wednesday, July 12th, 2006

We have had a VERY busy social life in the last couple of weeks surrounding Tina’s wedding & all the out of town guests. Lots of fun, chaos and perhaps because of all the constant social interaction, Z’s speaking skills have improved immensely. BUT, it’s still often hard to figure out what she’s talking about when there is nothing to point at. Especially since each day is rich with word material.
So yesterday, returning from the Cerritos Library & civic center, Zelda kept saying something that sounded a LOT like “Monkey shave”. (more…)

Hair

Saturday, June 17th, 2006

So Noting that it is HOT and that I always am scrounging for clasps to put my hair up, I had Francesca cut it. It’s short, shorter than since I was 20, feels nice. she did a great job by the way, photos to follow. With the only requirement that the first cut be long enough to gift to Locks of Love, she did a great job cleaning up the mess!

Inspired (or wearied from the weight?) Tomo asked ME to cut his hair finally, and yes, it’s true dear reader (Kaki you’re reading right?) Tomo cut his hair…maybe he should have asked Francesca though. I ignored his request that I measure from the bottom, picked a place that seemed really long, had him lean back and I chopped with the tailor’s scissors. Turns our he should have held his head normally.
Let’s say that it looks good ina ponytail which yes he can still make, although it’s no longer out of his way, and that I dared do no cleanup, I’d have to cut too much to straighten it out. Locks of love will be VERY happy I’m sure though, they could put a wig on an actual cancer-suffering colt with his contribution.

So now Zelda’s hair is longer than mine, and if hers grows like her fathers I guess mine might not exceed hers in length for a long time…

Tentatively hopeful that the US might actually try PLAYING in tomorrow’s game against Italy, and I think the Ghana versus Czech republic promises to show some great soccer! Goodnight!@
